Did anyone else notice

That Bill Kristol's New York Times column today has a note at the bottom saying it was his last? Hmmm. Wonder why...

I had a surprise yesterday--I was nominated and then elected to be a delegate not only to the fall diocesan convention but also to be an elector for the new bishop coadjutor of the Diocese of South Dakota! I was surprised as this took place at my new church, of which I've been a member for only six months. I didn't think enough people knew me so I had not bothered even to put my name forward. The person who nominated me was my good friend DAC, the retired priest of my former parish. We went to the diocesan convention together in 2003.

This morning I went to yet another TMJ disorder specialist. As long time readers of my blog know, I've agonized over what to do with my severe jaw issues since I moved to the Black Hills--have considered surgery, braces, PT, etc. I just decided to go with what I have--a splint--and get a new one made (which I've been trying to do for 3 years). The splint I have is worn out and so my headaches, etc, never really go away. Also, a regular dentist, not a TMJ specialist, made the last two splints. The new splint, which I'll get tomorrow afternoon, will be utterly different than the one I have now, which is very obtrusive and interferes with my speech. I'm eager to get this.

Unfortunately, this guy is old. He'll retire soon, I'm sure, and I'll have to find another specialist. But I'll be good for two or three years this way.

Woes on the Reservation

This is why, although there are some folks who want to run off with the various splinter groups who wish to leave TEC, most around here don't. We have MUCH bigger fish to fry than who is purer than whom. We have so many starving brothers and sisters in Christ in this diocese. Please pray for the Church.
