Day Trips

Taciturn's cold is finally going away. So, today we are headed for the capital city of Missouri, Jefferson City (home of Lisa of My Manner of Life), to visit the capitol building. We both are Thomas Hart Benton fans and the capitol's interior is covered with his work. Jeff City is just 30 or so miles from where we are staying.

I had a nice post holiday visit with my parents and my Missouri based brothers on Monday. Everyone was much more relaxed, although everyone there now has a cold--not good at all for my mother, who with her COPD ends up in the hospital at least once a year due to a cold changing into pneumonia. Hopefully this one won't. We are going back tomorrow; T didn't go with me on Monday due to his cold.

Only Son is going on a business trip all next week. I plan to take the kids for a couple of evenings so she can get a break. We are not seeing each other as much as I would like; I'm sure that is due to the holidays and the fact we've been ill.

T is looking at the weather so he can figure out when to drive out to Baltimore to see his family during the next week or two. As previously stated, I'm passing on this trip. When I finally told him under no circumstances was I going with him, he took it much better than I thought he would. I stressed over it and it turned out to be non climactic. However, he has not told his mom and the Angry White Man that he is coming alone. We'll see how he does that!

They still have Unger's version of the THB mural at the student union at Truman State, also, BTW...

I'm glad you stood your ground and decided not to go.

Enjoy your trip to see the Benton paintings.
