Tired again

Back to real life after a week away and I'm exhausted.

Some of this is good. I've done some nest maintaining (ie, cleaning) and the house looks much more livable. Also have done some big time cooking, and reconnected with a couple of my brothers.

But I'm tired of the meaness that some of my fellow brothers and sisters in Christ are displaying toward each other. I've seen some pretty nasty stuff from both sides of the current unpleasantness that is in TEC. One of my good friends from seminary was particularly hurt by another seminarian via Stand Firm. She wasn't a person to those folks; she was a label, a symbol, a source of derision and scorn. Some of the posts on Stand Firm were so scary as to be pathological. I would not blame her if she changed her phone number or moved in fear for her life. On the other side, it doesn't help those of us who are more inclusive when some of us make fun of those with whom we disagree or call them names, either. We need to take the high road. All of us need to take the high road.

There are ways to disagree without being disagreeable.

I personally need to recall the baptismal convenant, which asks me (and us) to seek and serve Christ in all persons (not just those with whom we agree), and to respect the dignity of every human being. If I keep that in the forefront, it is difficult for me to slander, libel, or simply make wicked sport of those who hold differing views than I do. It is as if I'm making sport of Christ himself.

Ugh. I'm sorry; that's awful. You shouldn't have to fear for your safety, because of what you say.

I came to thank you for dropping by. :-)
